Festen-SpanjerWe present the case of an 81-year-old patient who was admitted to the intensive care unit of our hospital with severe septic shock due to acute mesenteric ischaemia and pulmonary artery embolism. This case has several diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic dilemmas. The diagnostic and prognostic accuracy of pneumatosis intestinalis and portal venous gas are discussed.
